Stock futures were pointing to a slightly higher opening as the markets track the U.S. dollar and oil giant Chevron announced it would acquire Atlas Energy.

Atlas Energy Inc (NASDAQ: ATLS)
Shares of the oil and natural gas producer surged 35.8% in pre-market trading after announcing it would be acquired by Chevron in a deal valued at $4.3 billion, or $43.34 per share.
LDK Solar Co Ltd (NYSE: LDK)
The solar technology company posted third-quarter results beating estimates late Monday reporting earnings of 72 cents per share on revenue of $675.6 million. Analysts had been looking for earnings of 43 cents per share and revenue of $628.1 million. Shares gained 8.3% in pre-market trading Tuesday.
Priceline.Com Inc (NASDAQ: PCLN)
The company posted third-quarter results reporting non-GAAP earnings of $5.33 per share on revenue of $1 billion. Analysts had been looking for earnings of $4.97 per share and revenue of $973.6 million. Shares were up 7.2% in pre-market trading.
Santarus Inc (NASDAQ: SNTS)
The biopharmaceutical company swung to a larger third quarter loss than expected reporting a loss of 44 cents per share late Monday. Analysts had estimated a loss of 21 cents per share and the stock was down 13.6% in pre-market trading Tuesday.
China Biotics Inc (NASDAQ: CHBT)
The probiotic product company released second quarter results reporting non-GAAP earnings of 33 cents per share on revenue of $23.6 million. Analysts had estimated earnings of 37 cents per share and revenue of $27 million. Shares slipped 10% in pre-market trading.
Western Gas Partners LP (NYSE: WES)
The energy development company announced it plans to sell 6.5 million additional common units in a public offering sending existing units down 4% in pre-market trading.
