Stock futures were pointing to a lower opening ahead of Case Shiller home price data and consumer confidence data due out later this morning.
Here are some early-market movers for Tuesday.
Mips Technologies Incorporated (NASDAQ: MIPS)
The processor technology company beat the Street reporting first-quarter non-GAAP earnings of 17 cents per share. Analysts had estimated earnings of 10 cents per share sending the stock up 12.7% in pre-market trading.
E.W. Scripps (NYSE: SSP)
Shares fell 22.9% in pre-market trading after the media company announced it would repurchase $75 million of its common stock which is about one sixth of its total market value.
Zoran Corp (NASDAQ: ZRAN)
Shares of the digital video and imaging application provider fell 21% in pre-market trading despite posting third-quarter results which beat expectations. The company reported non-GAAP earnings of two cents per share beating estimates of a loss of five cents per share but expects to see a larger loss than expected of six cents per share in the fourth quarter.
Tellabs Inc (NASDAQ: TLAB)
The communications services company announced third-quarter results reporting earnings of 15 cents per share beating estimates by one cent but fourth quarter outlook was below current expectations sending shares down 10% in pre-market trading.
Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: ARIA)
Shares were down 9.6% in pre-market trading after the company announced it plans to sell 18.4 million common shares in a stock offering.
United States Steel Corp (NYSE: X)
The company posted a narrower third-quarter loss but was still well below expectations reporting a loss of 35 cents per share on revenue of $4.5 billion. Analysts had been looking for earnings of 22 cents per share and revenue of $4.44 billion. Shares slipped 4.6% in pre-market trading.
