Stock futures were pointing to a lower opening as disappointment over Apple iPad sales and IBM’s quarterly results was not offset by a higher-than-expected housing starts number of 610,000 in Septemeber.

Cardiac Science Corp. (NADAQ: CSCX)
The medical device company agreed to be acquired by Opto Circuits Ltd. of India in a deal valued at $54.6 million. Shares gained 9.1% in pre-market trading.
Coldwater Creek Inc (NASDAQ: CWTR)
Shares of the apparel retailer sank 31.9% in pre-market trading Tuesday after revising third-quarter guidance below current estimates late Monday. The company now expects to reports a loss of 14 to 19 cents per share while analysts were expecting earnings of three cents per share.
Infinera Corp (NASDAQ: INFN)
The optical networking system company posted third-quarter results late Monday reporting non-GAAP earnings of 18 cents per share beating estimates of nine cents per share. The company lowered its fourth quarter guidance below current expectations however sending shares down 26.9% in pre-market trading Tuesday.
OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: OGXI)
The company announced a public offering of common stock the size of which was not disclosed. Dilutive pressure sent shares down 19.2% in pre-market trading.
BlackRock Kelso Capital Corp. (NASDAQ: BKCC)
The investment company announced plans to sell at six million shares in a stock offering sending existing shares down 7.2% in pre-market trading.
VMware Inc (NYSE: VMW)
The information technology company posted third-quarter results reporting non-GAAP earnings of 39 cents per share beating expectations of 35 cents per share. Overall bookings however were lower than anticipated and shares slipped 5.5% in pre-market trading.
