Rosetta Stone (NYSE:RST) has named Stephen Swad as its new head of finance.

Swad, 49, will join the provider of technology-based language-learning programs on Nov. 9, reporting directly to its chief executive Tom Adams.

The new CFO, who has previously served in the top finance spot at Comverse Technology (NASDAQ:CMVT), Fannie Mae and AOL (NYSE:AOL), will be responsible for Rosetta Stone’s finance and investor relations.

Adams said the company is “delighted” to have Swad on the management team, noting he is a “gifted CFO” with “strong public-company experience.”

“He brings a business operations perspective to everything he does,” Adams said.

Swad said he is excited to join the company, particularly at this point in their evolution as they continue to offer new more advanced products and strengthen their business model.

“I’m confident that this talent team of innovators has the skills and drive to capitalize on a tremendous opportunity to grow globally,” he said.

Last month, the company introduced Rosetta Stone Version 4 Totale, a language learning product that pairs Rosetta Stone software with online programs.
