General Electric (GE) has recalled 32,955 front-loading washers sold in Canada.
The company said it was recalling the washers in conjunction with the Canadian Electrical Safety Authority and Health Canada due to fire and shock hazards.
GE said it is aware of seven incidents in North America, including one in Canada, in which flames caused minor smoke damage. No injuries have been reported.
The recall covers GE's front-loading washing machines without auxiliary water heating manufactured from December 2006 until February 1, 2010 and sold in department and retail stores until May.
Shares of GE were up slightly in Thursday afternoon trading.
