A-Power Energy Tapped to Develop Wind Turbine Plant

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (APWR) and two other companies have been tapped to develop a wind turbine production plant in Nevada.

The plant, which will supply wind turbines to renewable energy projects throughout the country will have an annual production capacity of 1.1 Gigawatts.

A-Power is building the projected 320,000 square foot plant alongside U.S. Renewable Energy group and American Nevada Group. A-Power plans to arrange financing for the bulk of the project from its own funds.

The new plant is expected to employ about 1,000 workers.

Shares of A-Power were up about 8% in Thursday trading.
