Barnes & Noble Develops App for Apple iPad

Barnes & Noble Inc. (BKS) has develop and application for Apple Inc.'s (AAPL)  new iPad tablet that will allow users to download books from the country's largest bookseller.

According to Barnes & Noble, the  B&N eReader "will give our customers access to more than one million eBooks, magazines and newspapers in the Barnes & Noble eBookstore."

The application is similar to one available on Apple's iPhone. 

Barnes & Noble sells its own e-reader, known as the Nook, which competes with the Kindle, the e-reader developed by Amazon Inc. (AMZN), and the iPad, which has many of the functions of a laptop computer, is expected to compete for market share with both devices.
