NEW YORK – Russia on Wednesday denied claims by Ukraine that it plans to block the transit of its natural gas to Europe, Reuters reported. In a statement, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Russia will put forth "maximum efforts" to fulfill contract obligations to European gas importers regardless of political issues. Earlier Wednesday, Reuters reported that Ukraine’s prime minister claimed Russia has plans to throttle the supply of gas to Europe this winter. A significant amount of Russia's gas to Europe goes through Ukraine.
