The London skies may be gray, but at least the turf is blue. This is the first Olympics where the field hockey turf is not green, but rather, a shocking and electric blue.
With bright pink trim, no less.
Perhaps more importantly, the turf, manufactured by Dow Chemical of Michigan, is made of special polyethylene, which prevents abrasions when competitors slide or get tackled on it. But that’s only the beginning of the chemical giant’s involvement in the London Games.
Dow has a hand in some of the largest of the Olympic venues and in a FOX Business / FOXSports.com exclusive, Dow chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris discusses the latest innovations at the games, as well as his view of both the US and the global economy.
