Zamarripa, a U.S. military veteran who served multiple tours of duty in Iraq, and four other officers were killed by a gunman last week during a protest in the Dallas.
The page, created by the officer’s close friend Alex Witt, has a goal of $200,000 and so far, more than 2,000 people have contributed to the cause.
“Anyone who’s donated $1 or $10,000 on there, it humbles me,” Witt told the FOX Business Network’s Deirdre Bolton. “That just makes me so happy. You see so much in the face of evil, you look around and there’re so many good people in the world you almost forget that with what we see nowadays.”
According to Witt, other companies have stepped up to help provide support for him and friends of Officer Zamarripa, including Southwest Airlines.
“I can’t even say enough for what they’ve done. Over 35 of my friends are able to anywhere from the entire country into Dallas and Southwest Airlines picked up the tab for all of them. And they didn’t do it for public notice, they didn’t do it for stock prices—they did it because it’s the right thing to do,” he said.
