The store will be in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood at 101 Greene Street, and offer customers the opportunity to check out and buy the company's wireless speakers, soundbars, subwoofers, and more.
"The music experience in your home, and how it sounds, is just as important as the perfect chair or considered lighting," Sonos vice president of the Global Brand Dmitri Siegel said in a statement. "The whole store experience is based on the idea of being in a really comfortable and inspiring environment, listening to music you love, but hearing it in a way you never have before."
The 4,200-square-foot store will have seven "state-of-the-art," 10-by-12-foot listening rooms built with four layers of acoustic sheet rock and 2,000-pound steel-framed glass door to keep sounds inside the rooms.
"Six of the seven, house-shaped Sonos Listening Rooms form a row on the ground floor," the company said in a statement. "Upon stepping inside, guests are welcomed with an immersive sonic greeting that introduces how the room works, followed by an invitation to take control and choose music from Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and dozens more Sonos streaming partners."

There will also be a kitchen featuring a single Sonos speaker, a study boasting two Sonos speakers, and a living room with a home theater setup. The seventh room will have a turntable and vinyl collection and the ability to listen to different Sonos speakers in isolation.
Like other technology-based flagship stores, the Sonos store will have more than just products. The company will offer set-up services, demonstrations, and the opportunity to arrange in-home service for local delivery. Given its music-first vibe, it's perhaps no surprise the store will also include artist listening sessions and live broadcasts for "hang out" sessions.
The Sonos store will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Opening a flagship store in New York City has become the "it" thing for many technology companies. While Apple was arguably the trendsetter and has several flagship stores in the city, Microsoft last year opened a flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, and Samsung has a new "showcase" in the meatpacking district.
