Sam Adams Pours a Cold One for Military Members

Celebrated with parades, vacation and barbecues, Memorial Day is a time to remember fallen heroes from America’s armed forces. While it is a time to reflect on the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending the United States, it should also be a reminder of the current service members who are coming home and looking to re-enter the workforce.

Many companies, large and small, feature programs and processes to help military members, veterans and their spouses. This year, The Boston Beer Company (NYSE:SAM), maker of Samuel Adams, is partnering with American Dream U, a non-profit organization that aims to help military members get the education and resources needed to find a job or start their own business, with a program called “Pour One Forward.” Through the program, Samuel Adams will provide funds to help contribute to American Dream U’s mission.

HOW IT WORKS

At participating bars and restaurants across the nation from now through July 5, a customer can buy two Samuel Adams Boston Lagers and leave the second for an active duty service member or military veteran. The drinker/purchaser will then receive a postcard on which they can write a message thanking troops. Once filled out, it will hang on the wall of the establishment where a current or former armed forces member can exchange it for a Sam Adams Boston Lager.

For every picture on a thank you note tagged on social media with #PourOneFoward, Samuel Adams will donate $1 (up to $60,000) to American Dream U.

“Samuel Adams understands the challenges surrounding post-service employment in America, which is why we’re proud to support American Dream U,” Boston Beer Company Founder Jim Koch said in a statement.
