Threat-Alert System Connects Cops Across the U.S.

After a cop was killed during a routine traffic stop, two of his friends created a program called COPsync (NASDAQ:COYN) that warns cops of danger in the immediate area. The CEO, Ron Woessner, joined the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney to explain how it works.

“There are 18,000 state and local law enforcement agencies in America and they are unable to communicate effectively with each other… The COPsync system is the only network designed to connect law enforcement officer’s nationwide,” he said

At the moment, the program is used in 10 states across the U.S.

“We have thousands of officers on the network whose lives are being saved -- criminals, kidnappers, rapists, car thefts etc. are all being thwarted because [of] this one communication system,” he said.

Former NFL players and investors Tommie Harris and Clinton Portis also joined Stuart Varney. They are vying for the technology to be placed in schools and hospitals.

“For hospitals and schools, when something happens and you don’t know where it happens, of course you have dispatchers, you have to call you have to find out, this system will give you the opportunity to find out instantly,” said Portis.

COPsync shares were trading higher on Tuesday.
