Amazon announced Tuesday it is extending holiday shipping deadlines, meaning that customers can order with free shipping by as late as 11:59 p.m. EST on Dec. 19 for delivery before Christmas. Amazon Prime subscription members can wait even longer to shop, with a deadline of Dec 22 for free two-day shipping.

And in 12 major metro areas, customers can place orders as late as 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 24 for same-day shipping on select items.

But Amazon isn’t the only retailer catering to procrastinators.

At Walmart.com, shoppers can place orders by Dec. 19 for standard shipping, or Dec. 22 for rush shipping. Dec. 23 is the last day to order for in-store pickup at one of Walmart’s stores. And Target, which is also offering free shipping for the holidays, has set Dec. 20 as its deadline for Christmas deliveries.

The late deadlines for online orders reflect the importance of e-commerce during the holiday season. According to the National Retail Federation, November’s online retail sales grew 1.0% month-over-month, and 6.3% year-over-year.
