Google Play (GOOG) and the folks at Boingo have teamed up to provide free Wi-Fi at a several thousand locations, from subway platforms in New York City to airports and hotels. Anyone with a laptop or Android device can use the free service during the month of September. If you’re wondering where you can find a free hotspot, use the Boingo Wi-Finder.

Children’s retailer Toys “R” Us plans to have its very own tablet, just for kids, on the market later next month. It’s called the Tabeo, and it’s a seven-inch Android device priced at just $149.99. The Tabeo comes fully stocked with games, books and educational apps, Wi-Fi built-in plus a front-facing camera and 4GB of storage.  (It can handle another 32GB with a micro SDHC card.) It also comes in its very own soft bumper case that’s perfect for playtime. The Tabeo hits store shelves October 21, but it’s available for pre-order online now and is expected to ship on Oct. 1.

Sweet Ride

Those of you who know how to “virtually” hail a cab via Uber in Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, New York and Boston will be pleased to know it’s now available in Denver, too. Created in San Francisco, the Uber app helps you request and pay for a private car service in no time. You can have your credit card information stored and have your ride receipt emailed to you.
