Report: Zynga ‘Drawing’ Up Bid for OMGPOP

Online game maker Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) is reportedly eyeing a buyout worth as much as $250 million of OMGPOP, which created the blockbuster game “Draw Something.”

If consummated, the deal would marry the Pictionary-like game with popular Zynga hits “Words With Friends” and “Scramble With Friends.”

According to techcrunch.com, San Francisco-based Zynga is in talks to acquire OMGPOP, but the discussions haven’t reached the exclusivity stage yet because there are other interested buyers such as GREE.

A takeover of New York-based OMGPOP, which is led by CEO Dan Porter, could range between $150 million and $250 million, the blog reported.

The potential deal would be the priciest yet for Zynga, which also makes Farmville and raised $1 billion in an IPO late last year.

Late in 2010 Zynga acquired Newtoy, the maker of “Words With Friends,” for $53.3 million in cash and stock.

The report comes just days after “Draw Something” passed “Words With Friends” as the No. 1 game on Facebook by active users.

Shares of Zynga, which have soared 40% so far this year, slipped 1.21% to $13.07 Tuesday morning.
